St Ives
St. Ives is a world famous harbour town and resort, situated on the North Cornish Coast. The colourful Mediterranean atmosphere, maze of cobbled streets and jumble of fishermens cottages blend with an eclectic selection of shops, galleries and studios around the picturesque, working harbour.
The town has been complimented in recent years by an ever increasing range of fine restaurants and cafes, enhancing its unique cosmopolitan atmosphere.
For many years St Ives has been a haven for artists and craftspeople -- Barbara Hepworth, Bernard Leach, Patrick Heron, to name a few -- attracted by the quality of the natural light as well as the rugged, dramatic nature of the coastline. The addition to the town of the Tate Gallery enhances St Ives' appeal as an all-year-round destination.
St Ives Bay has been voted one of a handful of the most beautiful bays in the world and boasts some of the Cornwall's finest beaches, including the famous surfing beach at Porthmeor, overlooked by the Tate Gallery.
The Town offers a host of leisure pursuits including surfing, extreme air and water sports, a leisure centre with indoor swimming pool and gym, and the challenging West Cornwall Golf Club at Lelant and of Tregenna Castle, St Ives, as well as delightful coastal walks.
